Tom's Tips:
January 2025
  • Always know where the tip of your knife is.  When making a cut, pay attention to where
    you put the knife tip.
  • If you do not have a large enough piece of wood for a carving you want to do, you can glue two pieces of wood together. Make sure the grain is running the same way. After applying glue, clamp for about 2
hours. Save sawdust to mix with glue for filling any cracks. Same process can be used on bark.
November 2024
  • It's helpful to periodically brush your carving while working on it.
  • Also, if sanding, brush off your sand paper.
  • Lowe's and Home Depot have 8 oz samples available for $6.98 and they can color match a sample provided.
